Join Team SSAFA at the world‑famous London Marathon and experience the pure joy of supporting 90 incredible runners taking on the legendary 26.2‑mile route through the heart of the capital. It’s a day filled with energy, emotion, and countless moments you’ll never forget - and you can be right at the centre of it.

What’s happening?

We’ll be bringing the noise at our official SSAFA Cheer Points along the route, and celebrating with our runners afterwards at the SSAFA Post‑Race Reception, also at Queen Elizabeth House.

Who we need

We’re looking for 20 enthusiastic volunteers (minimum) to help us create an unforgettable experience for our runners and their families. There are short shifts available throughout the day, so you can join us for a few hours or longer if you’d like.

Volunteer Roles

Cheer Point Crew

Help us make our Cheer Point the loudest and most uplifting spot on the route!

You’ll be:

• Cheering and motivating our runners
• Chatting with friends and families who come to support
• Snapping brilliant photos for social media
• Helping the events team pack down the Cheer Point at the end

Post‑Race Reception Team

Be part of the emotional high that comes after the finish line.

You’ll be:

• Welcoming and congratulating our runners
• Supporting the massage area and helping organise queues
• Thanking runners for their incredible achievement
• Helping create a warm, celebratory atmosphere
