Community Engagement Volunteer (South East Wales)
Our network of branch volunteers brings a mix of diverse skills and community connections that significantly contribute to SSAFA’s ability to make a meaningful difference to the lives of serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need.
The community engagement volunteer role:
Your main focus will be to help raise awareness of SSAFA amongst the local community.
There are a wide range of opportunities within this volunteer role to suit most interests. If you enjoy meeting people and organising or getting involved in community events, enjoy public speaking or if you are a good administrator and organiser, SSAFA would love to hear from you.
Opportunities include: • Creating awareness and fundraising initiatives. • Delivering presentations to a variety of audiences from students to local businesses and community groups. • Distributing promotional materials, posters and flyers across the community. • Attending local events • Social media marketing • Ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA polices and fundraising regulations.
You will be supported by the branch chair, branch officers and other branch members. In addition, the branch will be assisted by the community engagement coordinator for your region.
You will act as an ambassador for SSAFA.
Requirements:
Access to public transport or a car to travel to events/meetings would be desirable but not a necessity. You will need access to IT equipment such as a laptop and the internet to carry out branch administration.
Support:
You will have full support from the branch chair, community engagement volunteer, the community engagement co-ordinator and the rest of the team at SSAFA.
SSAFA values
For SSAFA, our values of; commitment, compassion, integrity and understanding underpin everything we do, and we ask that all volunteers are equally committed to them.
